My mother always told me, if she could protect me from anything, it would be a broken heart and I never understood why until it happened… I’m convince that having a broken heart is equally as painful as any physical pain to the body. The good news is, time heals all wounds but there are also steps you can take to help sooth through the pain day by day. Read the tips below to help get you through your next heart ache:

Step 1: Tune into your breath.

Lie down on the floor with one hand on your heart and your other hand on your stomach. Breathe and feel your chest rising and falling. Feel your heart beating, sending blood to every part of your body. Don’t try to change your breath or control your body in any way; simply feel the sensations of lying on the floor. If you’re feeling a knot in your chest or a pit in your stomach or any kind of physical sensation related to your emotions, that’s OK. Let yourself feel it, and notice how the pain doesn’t stop your heart from beating.

Step 2: Tap the thymus.

There is a reason monkeys beat on their chests. That is where the thymus gland is. It is the thing that shrinks when we have a “broken heart.” By gently tapping on your chest, you can stimulate the thymus gland and help it to expand and heal.

Step 3: Ask yourself a few questions.

Reflect on the following prompts, which will help you see the beauty in the breakup.

1. Why is this happening FOR me? (… instead of why is this happening TO me?)

2. How do I trust that this will play out as it is meant to play out?

3. How do I enjoy that I will never have to relearn these lessons?

1. Become More Aware

According to YourDictionary dot com, awareness is “a state of knowing and being informed of something.”

Being aware of your present state of transition and what is going on around you, is very important. It is also important to be in touch with your inner feelings.

Why is this so?

You are better able to assess what is going on and have a better chance of being able to make decisions that are not just based on feelings but more so on facts.

2. Become Knowledgeable

Being informed as much as possible on what you’re experiencing is key to managing this period of your life well. The more you know, the less in the “dark” you’ll be. The less in the dark you are, the better equipped you are to managing some of your emotions.

 3. Normalize Your Fears

Normalizing any behavior requires more information as established in the previous point. According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, the word normalize means: to bring (someone or something) back to a usual or expected state or condition.The task at hand is to normalize the fear surrounding the transition. Here’s how you could begin the process. Find a way to turn the fear into a motivational one.

4. Share Your Experience With Others

With these lessons in hand, you are now able to coach or mentor others who are either planning to do something similar or who are going through their own transition.

You are more equipped to help them. You have become more trustworthy because you have been there and done that.

When the feeling of being overwhelmed washes over you, many peoples first reaction is to panic which clouds one’s mind to be rational. Doing these 8 things below, will help calm the mind and give you a clear sense of peace:

1) Prioritize.

You can be all and do all to everything and everyone. You just can’t. Make your list, choose your top 3 most important things, and put the rest on hold.

2) Write it all down.

Make a list and get it all out of your head. This helps clear out the clutter so you can think more clearly. When you write it all down, you can release all those pent-up thoughts so you can think more clearly.

3) Delegate.

Just because you CAN, doesn’t mean you SHOULD. I can do a lot of things that aren’t the best use of my time, so I delegate them to members of my team. It’s not always easy to do, but it’s important. Find someone with the skill set you need, and learn to hand stuff off to them.

4) Don’t try to get it all done now.

Your list is long. You feel like it all needs to be done TODAY, so you freeze and turn to Facebook instead. Go back to what we learned above about chunking and prioritizing. Not everything needs to get done right this minute, or even today, or even this week — even though you might feel like it does.

5) Choose your three MITs every day.

My best tool for staying focused is the MIT (Most Important Task). Each day, identify no more than three MITs for the day. These are the things that absolutely have to get done. Focus on them, and once those are done you can feel like you made real progress.

6) Clear the decks at the end of the day.

At the end of the day, clean up your desk. It might be tempting to just get up and walk away, but if your desk is a mess that’s how you’re going to feel in the morning. Do you really want to start your day with another mess? Make note of where you left off, identify what you’re going to start with in the morning, then put everything away.

Start asking yourself, “Why not me?” he encourages. Next, start thinking big. Rich people set their expectations high. Why not$1 million?

3) Relying on one stream of income

“Self-made millionaires do not rely on one singular source of income,” Thomas C. Corley, who spent five years studying rich people, writes in “Change Your Habits, Change Your Life.”

“They develop multiple streams. Three seemed to be the magic number in my study … Sixty-five percent had at least three streams of income that they created prior to making their first million dollars.”

Examples of these additional streams are real-estate rentals, stock market investments, and part-ownership in a side business.

4) Being content with what you already know.

The wealthiest, most successful people are constantly exercising their brains and looking for ways to continue learning long after college or their formal education is over.

This choice is entirely up to you, emphasizes self-made millionaire Daniel Ally at Entrepreneur: “Often, people depend on their employers to buy them books, send them to seminars, or provide them with coaching. However, you must take your education into your own hands if you want to prosper. Invest in yourself.”

5) Hanging out with the wrong crowd.

“Einstein said that consciousness is contagious,” Siebold writes. “That doesn’t mean dump your friends because of their low net worth. But if you want to become rich,you need to start associating with other rich people.”

Think of it this way: “If you wanted to become fit, you would hang around fit people at the gym. If you were interested in religion, you would associate more with people at church,” he explains. “So if you want to become wealthy, get around other wealthy people and learn from them.”

6) Spending your free time having fun, and fun only.

Rich people would rather be educated than entertained. Take Warren Buffett, for example, who estimates that 80% of his working day is dedicated to reading.

According to Corley, 67% of rich people watch TV for one hour or less per day, while just 23% of poor people keep their TV time under 60 minutes.

The rich spend that TV time reading — and they particularly like self-improvement books. “The rich are voracious readers on how to improve themselves,” Corley writes. In fact, nearly 90% of them read for self-improvement for 30 minutes each day.
